Fit check A380 Tail Dock for Lufthansa big success!
On April 8th the engineers from NIJL Aircraft Docking and Lufthansa Technik performed a successful “fit check” of the brand new A380 tail dock. For this exciting event the Lufthansa hangar in Frankfurt was visited by an Airbus A380 aircraft which performed a successful docking procedure.This fit check was broadcasted all over the German television. The fit check is the final stage in this prestigious NIJL project. A team of NIJL designers and engineers has worked for several months to realise a state of the art and cost effective tail dock for Lufthansa’s new fleet of A380 aircrafts. The tail dock is designed so it can fit not only the A380 but also several other wide body aircrafts like the Boeing 747 and the Airbus A330 and A340. This makes it the most cost effective and practical wide body tail dock in the industry!
Nijl Aluminium BV produced several aluminum construction components for this tail dock. Nice example next to the construction parts are the tool racks which are installed all over the dock.
